Spirituality is a diverse idea and means different things to each person. However, the most common answer to spirituality is that there is something greater than yourself that is a divine being. In Christianity, people believe that there is one God that is Lord of all. Ingatius’ letter and the Didache both describe the expectations of how Christians are supposed to behave and believe. According to those sources, it is not enough to say that you believe in Christ. If you believe, you need to live your life exactly like how the documents describe. They have a couple main ideals for instance, keep your soul, heart, mind, and body pure. They also believe that there are two ways to live, the way of life and the way of death. Another key belief is the importance of prayer and making sure to welcome other Christians.
Ignatius' letter to the Romans focuses on the enlightenment that God gives them. In following God you can become worthy. God also gives people happiness and purity from the things that can taint them. It emphasizes not to prioritize other worldly things before God because if you do you will not rise to meet him again. The only thing that is eternal is God and you should be willing to die for God’s name. Both of the documents heavily focus on following God and not the worldly ideas, ways, or things. Since God is the only thing that won’t leave you or forsake you, do not focus on what the world wants, which is temporary.
