Global warming is a problem that is affecting many places in the world. The primary contributors to global warming are fossil fuels, oil, and gas. When the fossil fuels generate energy they emit gasses which blanket the earth and trap the sun's heat. Scientists indicate these gasses are causing the world to warm faster than ever before. They disrupt the weather patterns and the usual balance of nature. Global warming causes temperatures to keep rising, in fact, recently each decade has been warmer than the last. This increase causes problems like heat-related illnesses, making outdoor working more difficult, wildfires can start easier, and the ice is not forming as thick or staying as long in the arctic. Since the world is warming it causes more severe storms that are more frequent and intense. The reason is since the temperature is rising, more moisture evaporates, which makes more rainfall and flooding. The ocean is also getting warmer, which causes the storms to be more frequent and extended. These harsh storms often damage homes and communities, which leads to deaths and economic losses. Increased drought is another aspect of the change which significantly impacts water availability across the globe. Having droughts stir destructive sand and dust storms which are expanding deserts making it harder to find good land to farm. Within our oceans warming is causing loss or endangering many species. This risk also includes species on land as forest fires and extreme weather increase the danger. Some of these species may be able to relocate, but not all. Air pollution, disease, extreme weather events, forced displacement, pressures on mental health, and increased hunger are causing more health risks. The health care systems are finding it hard to keep up with the different effects the weather patterns are having on people. Climate change is affecting many people’s lives and should be talked about more. If this issue is not taken more seriously, it will continue to significantly affect the world.
